This is a spiral galaxy simulation with 20'000 stars according to the density wave theory. The velocities of the inner stars are exaggerated as compared to the outer stars, because this offers a more spectacular view and shows more evidently that the spiral structure is maintained even thought the stars are moving across the spiral arms. And of course, dark matter is not taken into consideration, which would yield even more uniformly distributed velocities.
