In this video, a large robotic arm is used as a motion platform in order to provide vestibular (self-motion) cues to a human pilot when driving a simulated Ferrari race car.
- a pilot seats in the cabin and drives the simulated car with a steering wheel and pedals
- a realistic dynamical model of the car generates the accelerations that would be felt by being onboard
- the robot moves so as to induce on the pilot the same motion perception that he/she would have felt on the car
