Dispenser Cleaning is recommended every 180 days of use or when the "Time to Clean" button turns red.
Approx. time required for cleaning: 30 minutes
Items Needed for Cleaning:
• Rubber Gloves
• Brand New Sponge, Cleaning Pad or Scrub Brush
• Soft Cloth
• 2-4 large pots of hot, boiled water (just over a gallon) 14 Easy Steps (Approx. 30 Min -- "Time to Clean" Button will be red)
1.Turn off the hot water. Flip switch on back of appliance to off position -- the red light should not be illuminated.
2.Drain the water from both the hot and cold tanks until the water does not come out of the appliance.
3.Unplug the appliance and then remove the empty water bottle. If appliance has a "No Spill Adapter Prong", lift and remove. Remove the baffle inside reservoir.
4.Wash the No Spill Adapter and baffle separately with hot, soapy water. Rinse.
5.Carefully fill the reservoir, with clean boiled water. Let the water sit for a minimum of 5 minutes to partially cool and sanitize the reservoir. ALWAYS USE CAUTION AROUND HOT WATER.
6.Wearing gloves, use sponge to clean the reservoir. Never use soap, cleaning fluid, steel wool or other abrasive material to clean the unit. Be very careful as the gloves will not completely protect your hands from the boiled water.
7.Plug in the electric cord and drain water from appliance completely by pushing the cold water dispensing button. Unplug the electric cord after draining water.
8.Carefully fill the reservoir, with clean boiled water. Let sit for 5 minutes to cool.
9.Wipe the outside of the appliance and faucet with a damp, soft cloth.
10.Plug in the electric cold and drain the water from the appliance completely. Insert the baffle back into the hole in the base of the reservoir. Insert the No Spill adapter (if applicable).
11.Wipe off the top of the appliance and the neck of the bottle with a damp, soft cloth. You can now place a new, full bottle of water on top of the appliance.
12.Remove air from the hot tank, by pressing the hot water button and hot water safety lock, until hot water flows freely in a steady stream (about 30 sec.)
13.Remove and wash the drip tray with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. (Alternatively, place on the top shelf of a dishwasher to clean).
14.Wipe the grate on the back of the appliance to keep dust free and improve efficiency. Let sit for 1 hour. Enjoy your new clean appliance!
