After the events of "Captain America 2-Winter Soldier", Hydra took over S.H.I.E.L.D. and seemingly killed Nick Fury. However, in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show, it is revealed that Nick Fury went into hiding after Hydra destroyed the Helicarrier.
