We had time in the evening for an orientation tour of Oaxaca (a UNESCO World Heritage site) including the Inglesia de Santo Domingo, a view of the Auditorio Guelaguetza, the cathedral, the market (mercado central de Abasto), the Plaza des Armas. The following day we went to Casa Crespo for a Mexican cookery course including a visit to the markets to buy the ingredients and finishing with eating the fruits of our labours (the cookery course is the subject of a separate YouTube video). We later visited the Centro Cultural Santo Domingo which is housed in the old monastery of the church and the adjacent cactus garden Jardin Etnobotanico. The following day we Set off on a trip to Monte Alban, the huge Zapotec site, the amazing petrified waterfall of Hierve el Agua, a factory making woven products and a Mezcal plaque (factory). In the evening we set off for the next part of the tour, an overnight bus to San Cristobal.
