Just a bit experimentation with the xiaomi yi, i can already run it over network, use it as an 16mp ip camera etc.. But i want it to be able to start by itself and thats the ting it cant do by software. Being able to turn itself on makes long time-lapses possible (without the need for external power). Arduino turns it on once every 5min. A script on the cam takes a pic and shut itself off.. Battery will last a long long time.
Here is what i found: sinking the outer button ring to gnd (with the button sticker removed) is the same as pressing the button. I am using a little 3.3v pro mini arduino, powering the arduino from beginning of the led ring... (Gnd from beside the wifi pogo pin)
