On Wednesday November 20th I was headed down to San Antonio Texas to rescued a dog that was living at a shell gas station. Using my gps to guide me I typed in the address of the shell. When my gps said I had arrived at my destination there was no gas station... confused I thought my gps had messed up and had taken me to the wrong location when in fact it was exactly the opposite. My gps hadn't messed up at all it took me exactly where I needed to be, right to this dogs door step.
There were dogs littering the streets in typical San Antonio fashion. As I was headed to my destination I was hot on the tail of a dog who was racing down the street. I followed him and he abruptly stops and heads into a yard. I see a neighbor and ask if the dog lives there and she says yes but he roams the whole neighborhood. She does however tell me that the guy across the street passed away several weeks back and she says and I quote "There is a dog in the back getting ready to die, I called the city a few weeks ago but no one ever came for her."
My heart sank, a few weeks ago, getting ready to die, all these words echo in my brain. What would I find when I go into that backyard. Could my heart handle it?
I grab my camera and prepare myself for the worst.... By the Grace of God, there she was ALIVE and waiting, waiting for me to come and save her!
I scooped her in my arms and hugged her like there was no tomorrow and brought her home and called her Grace.
Grace according to the vet has been without food for close to 6 weeks and is lucky to be alive. She is one of the worst cases of starvation everyone at the vet has seen and certainly the worst case I have ever personally witnessed.
This girl has got a will to live and I don't plan to let her down. She will require lots of food, vet care and love to get back to 100% health and be available for adoption.
