The Supreme Court ruled on the decision of the Central Government linking Aadhar card to the PAN card. The Supreme Court justified the decision to add the base and the PAN but refused to accept it as necessary. The Supreme Court said that for those who do not have Aadhar card or who have not yet built it, it is not necessary for the moment. The Supreme Court also asked for a scheme to ensure that there is no private data leak. The Central Government made a change in the Income Tax Act and made it necessary to link the Aadhaar number to Permanent Account Number (PAN Card).
On behalf of the Central Government, it was said in the defense of its decision that nowadays anyone can easily create a PAN card. Rohatgi had said that a person would make more than one pan card. On behalf of the government it was said that their decision would be able to catch fake financial account holders.
Justice A. Of The bench of Sikri and Justice Ashok Bhushan reserved the verdict on May 4 hearing the case. The Government included the new Section 139A in the Income Tax Act. The petitioner had told the bench that connecting the base with a PAN card would have dangerous consequences. 'This will not only affect the people, but also the small traders will be affected.'
In this matter, petitioner was the leader of the Communist Party of India Vinay Visjan. From his side senior advocate Arvind Datar appeared before the Bench. He had told the bench that the government is working on the agenda to make the base mandatory.
