The USCG released a warning about using unapproved navigation lights.
I installed a trolling motor on my kayak so I needed to place navigation lights on the front of my kayak.I wanted to put the red and green LED strip lights on my kayak. I did a lot of research on what the USCG regulations were for navigation lights for a power-driven boat less than 7 meters. I found out many of the LED strip lights and DIY all around lights are illegal and not USCG approved.
Will they actually stop and check you? I don't know.
