The beacon broadcasts a URL to a web page that implements a Service Worker with push notifications. This would allow a company to create a queuing system like you find in many restaurant chains: instead of asking the hostess for a piece of plastic with LEDs in it, users visit the queuing web page with just a tap, request a spot in the queue, and their phones will vibrate when the time is right.
