My Pokemon related 3DS collection expands once again with the launch of the Poke Ball Edition New Nintendo 2DS XL. I've been eyeing a 2DS XL since the system launched. I don't use the 3D, the form factor is more compact, and the outward design of the system seemed interesting and new. However, with Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon on the horizon, I knew Nintendo would be releasing something special, and here it is.
The best part of this system is not only the design and red interior, but the button on the Poke Ball is an actual button! It doesn't do anything of course, but the idea behind it is just really neat.
The system includes an AC adapter, start up manual, and the infamous AR cards. While it can't play games in 3D, the system plays all Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS titles.
A Pikachu Edition is also available in Japan and Europe, but doesn't seem to have a planned US release at this time.
