Video showing the pressure forming process including tooling details.
The video covers the following steps:
a) Pressure formed part in a female tool that is machined from solid aluminum.
b) Etched texture on tool surface imparts texture on formed part, exterior part appearance is similar to injection molding.
c) Sheet material is custom color matched, painting is not required. Sheet is heated to a pliable state, then indexed over the tool in the forming station.
d) Heated sheet is contacted by the plug assist to improve material distribution in the formed part.
f) The press is closed, sealing the sheet against the top of the forming tool.
g) Positive air pressure form the non-tool side moves the heated sheet against the textured female tool.
h) The formed part is then cooled to a rigid state.
i) Protruding cylinders activate undercut tool sections to allow part removal.
