I decided to test a recently restored axe on a broken maple tree. I ended up cutting it down with the chainsaw, transporting it into the storage room in the pole barn, and cutting it up with the sawmill.
It ended up being a fair amount of wood for a 12 inch diameter log. Three 1X12s, six 1X4s, and four 3X3s. All 8.5 feet long.
I found out that the log weighed between 350 and 400 pounds. No wonder it was such a struggle to move!
Now I just need to air dry the wood for a year. Bummer.
