Racing drone acceleration is the part nobody expects: the Drone Racing League Racer3 goes from 0 to 80 mph (129 km/h) in under one second.
How fast can a racing drone accelerate? Faster than any road car. The Racer3 reaches 129 km/h in under a second, while the quickest production car needs about 1.7 seconds just to hit 100 km/h.
- The DRL RacerX set a Guinness World Record in July 2017 at 163.5 mph (263 km/h), with a peak run of 179.6 mph.
- RacerX weighs about 800 grams and its motors spin up to 46,000 rpm.
- On 11 December 2025 Luke and Mike Bell pushed a quadcopter to 657.59 km/h, the current record.
