Want to see a real-life lightsaber, controlled by a Project Tango tablet?
I made this tech demo a few weekends ago and presented it at Google, at a VR meetup. The 8x8x8 LED cube I'm using is called L3D from http://lookingglassfactory.com. It's powered by an IoT device called Photon, from Particle.io.
Related to this, I'm working on an IoT gateway service that maintains all devices' 3D location, to enable collaborative AR spaces. Even if the IoT devices have no knowledge of their location, they can be anchored to real-world coordinates with a Project Tango device. Anyone can then invoke the actuator's/sensor's exposed functions directly from their AR viewer, provided they have the necessary credentials. Neat stuff.
