This video was made in the evening 12 July 2016. I made these dumplings, or jiaozi as Chinese call them. I recorded the process of making dumplings, in the rush, while I was cooking. Therefore this video was made in real cooking scene without any artistic forms or editing!
Chinese dumplings are the number one favourite food in my family. They are so delicious and it's great fun making them. You can have any fillings as you like. But the most popular ones are minced pork with Chinese chives or Chinese leaves with added prawns and eggs. Sprinkle soy sauce, minced gingers, white pepper and a dash of sesame oil. You can have minced lamb or beef instead or go completely with veggies. No matter what filling you choose its gonna be nice. It does need bit practice to make the pastries but it's great fun. Do you notice the Chinese rolling pin is different in shape to pastry rolling pin? Chinese rolling pin is thicker in the middle and thinner at the ends. This shape is easier for rolling pastry into round shapes. It's widely available in Chinese supermarket. Give it a try.
