Originally a review on the Holmes 3888, but after many questions video was expanded to discuss humidity, humidifiers both ultrasonic and evaporative, and hygrometers. A couple of other notes: 1) The emptied water tanks can build up a vacuum that make unscrewing the cap difficult. Depress the spring plunger first to release the vacuum seal. 2) Clorox offers a 24 oz. Precision Pour Bleach Get that is perfect for safely adding a couple of drops without mess when filling the tanks to disinfect. 3) After using this unit for a couple of months during the winter season, I consistently pump 10 to 12 gallons of water into the air daily. 4) An unexpected advantage was in discovering that my house, which has cathedral ceilings was much warmer due to the powerful fan that forced all the hot air back down to the floor. Very noticeable.
An update. It has been 3 years that I have used this unit for winter humidity in a house that has no central humidifying system. I can't say enough good about the unit. Pumps out gallons of water daily. Still the one low point is the cost of filters. Ouch. However, I only use one set per season. As the winter season ends, the humidity increases, and that balances out the lower efficiency of a clogged filter. Works for me.
