In this video you get to see me in some of my less than finer moments. I did not put enough down thrust in the motor of this new plane, resulting in it climbing straight up and trying to loop on me. Also, I remembered to put the rudder on the aileron channel (Have I already said how much I hate 3 channel aircraft?) but I did not slave over the rudder to the ailerons so I could enjoy rudder on both gimbals. This resulted in my having a devil of a time getting the plane off the ground - I was banging the rudder stick on take-off to compensate for motor torque but nothing was happening. LoL
Yes, you guessed it - I DOINKED the DUCK! LoL
The plane was scratch-built to be kinda like the Mud Duck and ended up with a 61" wingspan and weighed in at 4 pounds on the nose. I used a 3542-10 motor from HeadsUpRC along with a 40 amp EMax ESC. Batteries were two 3s2200's in parallel and the power system was more than adequate. I ended up stripping the gear out of it to put into another plane that I built at the field, and then I gave what was left of the airframe to Andrew (weathervane). It was totally repairable, but I figured I would just cut another one out on my CNC machine when I got home (which I have already started). The v2 will have 3 degrees of downthrust and that will probably be the only change. Once airborne, it actually flew quite nicely!
