What's next for YouTube subscribers
Rest assured you subscribing and checking out the videos has always been a reason to celebrate every single one of you. But while the current archive will remain available for free, starting 2019, new full-length videos will be Patreon-only.
Since YouTube is working extremely hard to make it impossible for small channels with niche content to survive, Patreon is one of the few remaining ways to hopefully see at least some ROI on all the effort that goes into making these videos.
From getting hardware to planning and editing shoots, accommodation costs to gas, toll, repairs and taxes - these costs are adding up quickly. Most important of all, time is limited. These efforts have to start paying for themselves. Otherwise, there's no way this can continue, hence the current 8-season limit if the community-based goal isn't met in August 2020.
Shutting this down would be a shame. There's loads of great content in all kinds of gorgeous locations to share.
