In this demo, we present SonarBeat to leverage a phase based active sonar to monitor breathing rates with smartphones. We design and implement the SonarBeat system, including signal generation, data extraction, received signal preprocessing, and breathing rate estimation, with a smartphone.
The demo shows that by using SonarBeat system the estimate breathing beat is 16.04 bpm. It is approximately same as the ground truth provided by the NEULOG Respiration Monitor, where we can see 8 peaks in the Monitor for 30 seconds, that is 16 bpm.
