On April 23rd-24th, 2016, more than 170 cities globally collaborated in finding solutions for NASA, and for the second time, Cairo took part in the challenge! The Hackathon was held locally at Zewail City for Science & Technology and co-organized by IEEE Egypt Section.
55 Egyptian teams competed in 6 category challenges; Aeronautics, Solar System, Earth, Mars, Space Station and Technology. 6 winners have been chosen as local winners and 2 winners have been globally nominated, along with the People's Choice awarded team to join the global challenge.
NASA Space Apps Challenge is an annual two-day hackathon where teams of technologists, scientists, designers, artists, educators, entrepreneurs, developers and students across the globe collaborate and engage with publicly available data to design innovative solutions for global challenges. NASA is leading this global collaboration along with a number of government collaborators and over 100 local organizing teams across the globe.
