One of the things that confused me, was how to render a LiPO battery safe, and dispose of it in a responsible manner. I mean, we have all seen the funny videos of a LiPO battery being stabbed with a knife, or shot with a shotgun. Lots of flames, lots of smoke, but for 99% of people, it's not safe at all. Hence this video.
The safest way I have found to render a LiPO battery inert is to salt bath it for a minimum of 1 week. Get some hot water, and dissolve as much salt into it as you possibly can. Cut the leads of the battery down and immerse the battery completely under the salt water solution.
Doing this causes a chemical reaction rendering the battery completely inert, and safe for disposal in accordance with your local laws.
