In this video I got a vintage end table I found on the curb and thought the top would be great to try some stain shading. This most tricky part is figuring out how-to stain shade and blend everything to look even.
After the top is stripped and prepped for stain, I drew a simple flower design in pencil (yes, you can erase!), then started from the middle and worked my way out, using my finger in a rag dipped in Minwax Dark Walnut oil based wood stain to complete the design. Top coated with several coats of semi-gloss water based polyurethane. Ready to be taped off tomorrow!
Part 2 will be the base and doors getting painted and the reveal of the final piece.
