Units from Fire Stations 5 & 105 responded to the report of a structure fire at 10th Ave & Harrison St. Crews found a well involved fire that was being driven by 40-50 MPH winds.
Crews Entering the structure were blow out in to the front yard when something exploded inside the house, throwing them back out the front door, slamming the door and blowing the front of the house off. No firefighters were injured during the event.
For the next 4 hours, while the storm intensified, the crews made a heroic effort to keep the fire from spreading into the near-by homes.
