1) Don't chase trends. If there's a trend on certain startups - that's probably too late, there'll be you and 10,000 other people doing the same.
2) Build what you think is necessary for yourself, don't try to please the market.
3) To get the best idea for a startup, watch yourself to see something that you do constantly that you don't like, and come up with a better solution for this.
