My only wish in critiquing her TEDx talk (linked in full, below) is that she might see that the burden she’s placing on her 16 year-old son is fraught with dangers, not to mention that they’re pitfalls of a magnitude that even Atlas wouldn’t wanna trade him for!
Ms. Dunaway clearly absorbed the 40-year-old feminists’ mantra: that women can have a full-time professional career and raise kids, too. But she’s also practical. She realizes it works ONLY if/when her partner does (and if he will continue to do) his “fair share.” From details in this particular TEDx lecture it sure sounds like he’s a devoted wife-ish guy, who not only “moved cross-country three times for her career,” but for years shuttled their son to and from school, et al, as any old-school wife would have for a 1960’s MadMan.
So sure, it’s looking like Cammie probably can pull off The Superwoman Dream…but if or when push-comes-to-shove, which of her two “jobs” will be done half-ass? (Pssst, I’m betting she won’t or can’t afford to neglect the one that “writes the checks,” that makes possible the lattes, the Nordstrom’s, and the rest of the luxe she likely also loves as dearly as she clearly loves her son.)
