I use this metal grinder every day, I love this mobile workshop grinder because as a farrier, i always need to be quick and accurate with my metal cutting and shaping. As a mobile tradesman, our trucks are always bouncing around and these grinders get a hammering. That is another reason why I love this grinder. I think it is the best built belt grinder on the market, it is reliable and very strong.
This video demonstrated that this huvema grinder combined with a ceramic belt can grind more than 1mm per second of 3/4 x 3/8 concave horseshoe making mild steel, very easy.

For knife making, knife grinding and knife polishing, I would recommend changing the belt for the desired outcome. A low grit sander or high grit sander for the finer finish. This huge machine is no weed, it is built with a purpose!
