"The Drone Team at Hawaii Preparatory Academy"
We are explorers at HPA:
This video overviews the 2014-2015 school year's work by Juan Miche Rosales (class of 2016) and Jack Solomon's (class of 2015) in the drone program at HPA.
The two have been conducting science in their Independent Science Research (ISR) project at the Energy Lab at Hawaii Preparatory Academy. Using the photogrammetry and 3D modeling software Pix4D, Juan and Jack are able to create highly detailed 3D models of terrain and architecture. You can view their models here: https://sketchfab.com/jsolomon
Towards the end of the year, the team began using the DJI Inspire 1 drone to create ultra HD 4K promotional videos for the school. They have filmed and edited more than a dozen videos of various subjects including HPA's famous cross-country course, the majestic Lake Waiau on the summit of Mauna Kea, and the stunning Pololu and Waipio Valleys.
The drone project at HPA has provided the team the opportunity to learn skills and create content that few high schools in the world can provide.
