My Flyzone Calypso had a total system failure at about 900 feet. I had no control as it nose dived and the lipo battery burned on impact. I don't know if the ESC burned out or the lipo burned in flight but I suddenly had no controls at all. I was surprised that the EPO foam melted but did not burn. I was also very impressed with the durability of my Runcam 2 camera.
The video is only 3 minutes long but if you are impatient, the crash is at 1:40.
This video also illustrates the importance of flying in designated areas and under safety guidlines established by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). Things can and do go wrong. Electronics fail. Although rare, Lipo batteries can burn. This flight was over an establish RC airfield and not over traffic, homes or businesses. The field was equipped with fire extinguishers and people trained to properly respond. As a result, the only damage was to the model plane.
