During the nuptial flight, hundreds of drones (male ants) and Queen alates of numerous ant colonies fly at the same time, in order to mate with the opposite sex of most often other colonies.
So if we view the lives of ants with the similar emotional connect as we look into our own lives, we can say that it is their destiny that brings a Queen and a male together. So here we have tried to capture one such encounter of a drone (male ant) with a queen alate, though we had to set up their meeting in an artifical environment due to the presence of large population of queen ant hunting geckos in our region. Still we were able to capture some very touching moments of togetherness between the two.
However does this story ends in tragedy???
Or will you call it a triumph of love??

"THE LOVE STORY OF AN ANT"
He was sitting there,
She was sitting there,
And love was in the air,
Everywhere!
He was in love,
She was in love,
And love was everything for them,
And nothing else, above!
But then she decided, to leave,
And he was so lonely and filled up, with grief,
There were, no grasses green,
There was no skies blue,
But still, meeting her here was for him,
A dream come true!
But now, that she was gone,
His heart ached, and burned!
So much, he missed her,
That he wished to to die, and live no, further!
But suddenly she was back,
And his life, was again on track!
And he was so happy again,
Forgetting all his, past tears and pain!
Its a love story, my friend!
Of a, different kind,
Not of happy prince and princesses,
But of the drone, and the ant Queen!
Destined to meet, in this walk of life,
Overcoming all the strife, Of the nuptial flight!
I will always, be there,
He used to, whisper in her, ear!
And she would be so happy,
That her eyes would, fill up with tears!
And then, they made love,
With a promise, to never ever be apart!
To be, one soul,
And build a colony together, long before it gets too cold.
But as, they say, life is often too short,
And destinies are written, sometimes only to hurt,
So as the pregnant Queen.......???
