Hi and welcome. My name is Harald Tshuggnall from SEOAcademy.net. Today I want to talk about the new domain endings. You probably know that there are hundreds of new domain endings out there. I'm talking about the new endings like .attorney, or, here in Austria, we have .vienna, and .berlin in Germany, and you have got a lot of endings that are tied to a profession or to a location or stuff like that. Basically now, a lot of domains are available. Until now, they have been also already a lot of domain endings, but now you have got actually the possibility to get a exact match domain. In some areas, even a total match.
What I mean by that is there's domain out there that are called .forsale or .attorney, and if you would be an attorney in New York, you could have the domain NewYork.attorney, or LA.attorney, or homes.forsale. You can really make a double exact match, so to say. A lot of people say or believe that exact match domains don't work anymore, and this is not true, I would say, because of course there was an update. I don't know, it was two, three years ago, where exact match domains got kind of penalty of stuff like that, but actually it was, for most of the domains, because they didn't really have good content. They have really been just spam domains, but if you look at domains that already also match the content if you have exact match domain like let's say redapples.com, it's very unlikely that you're selling green tomatoes on that domain.
So for Google this is some relevancy and you just have to Google most of the key words you will always find actually domains or key word exact match domain rankings and you will also see that the site structure seems to be quite important because it's often the case that the site structure is bored that means so the keyword is in the site structure or it is in the description or it is in the title, but you see a lot of exact match or partly matching domain names ranking there. What I've seen in the States is also quite interesting, I analyzed some domains especially in the attorney area where you can really see that actually this kind of domains because of their total match or exact match advantage they rank actually much better than they should rank.
If you look at all the metrics in the background, if you look at the content, if you look at the link profiles actually there would be no way to rank with a different domain. So I am very sure that this is still a big advantage and I see it a larger advantage if it's really matching in front and back, what I mean is newyork.attorney, maybe Google forgot to think about that there will be in the end or now really this kind of exact matches and of course they say it's not really an advantage, John [inaudible 00:03:55] one of the hangouts is that he said no it's no an advantage.
But look up some key words yourself, I did a lot of research and I would say in the moment actually it's still a big advantage and of course it depends if you want to build up a brand or if you want to rank for just one key word term it's also the case you can't trademark that in the future and stuff like that, of course you should think about stuff like that but if you just want to optimize for one key word then you can still go out and get an exact match domain. Make a good piece of content, do all the other stuff that helps, but then you will have an advantage having that domain.
I hope that was useful and I'll see you tomorrow thank you, bye bye.
