This camera has a lot of goodies that come with it. As I was going through the package, I was surprised by how much it had – right down to an extra battery. But it was missing the one I love to use the most, a frame support. It has the bike attachment, but not the frame support to hold the camera to the bike attachment. Perhaps I just didn't understand how it was intended to be used. If so, an explanation of each accessory would have been handy. As I see it, all the attachments must be used with the waterproof case unless you already have a frame (which, luckily, I do). And (spoiler alert) since the sound is the one weakness of this camera, I think I can see why they left this accessory out while being so generous with all the others.
The camera has a lot of potential of multiple functions. Since it can be charged while using (I even did this accidentally, changing it while it recorded the counter for half an hour!), it can be used as a car DVR, and a web cam.
It can send your images to an app on your phone (both android and IOS), which is a feature I have not seen in a sports camera before. So that is really impressive. Although I have to say, the app has not worked for me yet. It found the camera all by itself, that part was too easy. But when I open the app, it shows the camera set up and then goes black. This is with the camera both on and off.
The images on this camera are stunning. That is where you are going to find the quality. The only thing holding me back from giving this camera, which is priced well below the brand name sports camera with what I would say is comparative image quality, would be the audio. This is where they did not invest much time. The sounds are low for anything more than two feet away, and for anything touching it, they are explosive. So any bumping or vibrating is going to be what you hear. Any conversations or nature sounds will be muffles or distant.
You’ll be able to take this camera out for an hour to an hour and a half of adventure, and then you can put the extra battery in and keep going.
If image is what your focus is, especially video quality, I highly recommend this camera. It has so many great features. But if capturing the sound with the video is important to you, you may want to look into other options.
