The Tapes is the brand-new collaboration between Australian musicians Andrew Grant and Mickey Kojak, who after years of cutting their teeth throughout the Sydney underground dance scene, have finally arrived with their debut single ‘At All’.
Clocking almost 1.5 million streams in the few short months since its release, ‘At All’ ebbs and flows like the break of a peaceful Sydney dawn in the aftermath of an epic night out - the warm sun rising over the horizon and into a top-down FM jam.
The track somehow finds the spacious middle ground between an intimate bedroom recording and an end of the night slow dance – as bubbling underwater piano notes collapse into crystalline guitar plucks, drawn over deep tissue, four-to-the-floor beats. It’s a combo that has quickly found the duo rapturous attention in Australia and beyond.
The new video for ‘At All’ was shot by wiz-kid production team Yeah Sure and directors David Porte Beckfield & James van Den Elshout, who have previously worked on visuals for the likes of Hayden James, Nicole Millar and Gang Of Youths. Set in the duo's favourite Sydney Caribbean-themed cocktail lounge, The Tapes bring their debut single to life through a surreal karaoke experience, pitting images of them running the night-time streets to the song, against a back drop of them enjoying drinks sipped from pineapples and coconuts.
