I made this project for many reasons. First just because i like camping and I actually need a power bank. Second because i don't like cheap chinese electronics and prefere more advanced devices. And not to forget because I enjoied every single moment making it the DIY way. Even though i had many small problems during the project I am more than satisfied with the result.
The weight of the product is not really handy, but in other way it's cool bullet proof metal housing design makes this power bank even more interesting.
The built prosess is quite simple. If you don't have acess to such big lipo cells you can easyli connect several smaller ones to in parallel to gain capacity. This way you will also get more freedom in case design since the cells will be smaller.
ai used mostly chea simple electronics from ebay. There is only one custom pcb that holds all the usb connectors. You can make this also on a pcb with holes for custom designs. Inside there are 2 DC-DC 5A voltage step-up boosters, one lipo 1S BMS board to protect the cell forom over/under voltage, and a 3A single cell charging board for slow charge via micro usb port.
Beside that, a fuse is installed to prottect he high current port that allows 30A charging, so full charge in 1h. There is an on/off switch and a 1s lipo voltage display from ebay.
