Brass and copper utensils are always coated with tin in india. Why? Well thats because brass and copper tend to react with the acids in food which ends up spoiling any food cooked/served in these dishes/utensils. Tin on the other hand is not easily oxidised n resists corrosion.
Brass, bronze n copper are ideally the utensils we should be using all over the world bcz of their safeness and health benefits as compared to the cheaper and more common alternatives. Traditionally in india only teracotta/brass/bronze/copper utensils have been used.
With use, tin coating gets worn out and then the utensils can be recoated whenever required.
In this video we have shown how to tin-coat new utensils, older ones are also coated this way but before doing that there is a small procedure for cleaning before tin-coating .
