*** READ *** The purpose of these tests is to demonstrate which has more lag: unlocking your front door dead bolt with a traditional key (between 15 to 30 seconds) while your hands are full or in the dark or unlocking your front door deadbolt the new "modern" way with a simple touch of your finger (3 to 5 seconds) using the new Kevo Smart Lock from Unikey.
As you can see in the night shot, I have a flood light on my porch that does help me to find my traditional keys a little faster than usual. That was one of the reasons I installed a flood light, because I could never see the right key that I needed and therefore hated using my front door at night at the very least. Meanwhile, when I'm entering my front door, I'm usually not as prepared to have my keys accessible in my pocket, because my hands would be full of groceries, bags of some sort or I'm caring both kids in my arms while trying to unlock the door. Also, as I'm closing the door, I'm touching the kevo lock which conveniently prepares the locking mechanism to make the connection again to my phone and the lock-up process even more convenient! It's clever timing to shave off those 3 seconds while you're grabbing the handle and closing the door and on the fourth second the door locks.

Kevo is only for iOS devices that support bluetooth 4.0 low energy (starting with 2011 models as early as iPhone 4s and up). I read UniKey will develop an Android app as soon as Google provides the required API's for developers that fully take advantage of bluetooth 4.0 low energy. Don't be disappointed if you have a android, windows or blackberry phone since you can use the included key fob in the mean time.
