Straight up.. no thrills guide covering all aspects of 'completely' backing up the PS4 save data (save files/screen captures), and replacing the hard drive of the Playstation 4 system with the latest system software required.
NB. Ensure you download the latest files!
Best to use any FAT32 stick (slim enough to fit into the PS4's USB ports, based on the PS4 architecture), 1GB+ (patches are getting larger these days)
Important to note that you will need to re-download PS Plus games/patches etc.. Although PS Plus is supposed to do this automatically.. Also, you will need to reinstall all your disk games and you will not be able to re-upload your Capture Gallery back to the PS4's HDD.
If you're receiving errors, try troubleshooting and looking for answers in the comments below. Otherwise, it is recommended to file a ticket with Sony and cross-checking that your drive is not corrupt.
1) Go to: https://goo.gl/wKoYIS
2) Download the 3.00 patch (239MB) - or whichever is the latest (create a folder named "PS4". Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE". Save the file with the file name "PS4UPDATE.PUP").
3) Scroll down to the bottom of the page and expand the "Perform a new installation of the system software" section
4) Click 'download' (790MB)
5) Put them in the appropriate folders etc
(NB. Check for newer versions of the download files)
