Had some fun putting together my own version of the useless box, but with some interesting linkages and mechanisms like the scissor lift and 2-stage sliding door.
I used balsa wood, MDF, paddle pop sticks and wooden skewers for the parts with plenty of super glue and epoxy - this was a proof of concept so it could be a bit rough.
For the electronics, I used an Arduino Micro, 4 x micro servos, 6v power supply (4 x AAs) for the servos, a 9v power supply for the Arduino, custom pcb to plug it all in and a spdt toggle switch with wooden dowel bat.
Was good fun building it, and now that the proof of concept works, I'm going to draw it all up and get the parts laser cut! Hope you like it :)
