My Venice, Italy wedding proposal in a Gondola...

A surprise, fairy book proposal for someone who deserves nothing but the best. The only thing missing was our family and friends to join us in Italy. In lieu of that (and thanks to a Flip camera) we thought you may enjoy this.
I wanted this to be a total surprise for Kristin and I think it was. Originally the thought was for her to think its a last minute "work trip" with me surprising her in Italy, but after deliberations, we thought she would have figured the plan out as she knows everyone in travel at work. With some quick thinking from my friends, we went to Plan B. She's travelled internationally a few times with her friend Marlena, so could we get her to believe she was taking a trip with her, and at the last minute?
Marlena was a total gem. She told Kristin that she had a work trip to Italy and work is paying for one additional guest because its such a last minute trip. She works for a high powered financial firm in NYC, so it sounded reasonable. Of course, convincing Kristin was another story. It took her boss, Marlena, two of her dearest co-workers and an all expense business class trip to Venice to convince her.
All this transpired in a span of 48 hours -- Thursday, July 31 - August 1, 2008. She left from Washington, DC and I from Newark Airport in NJ. I was concerned because we both had a layover in Frankfurt, but luckily we didn't meet -- Had I, I probably would have proposed right at the airport. I got into Venice a few hours before she did. The hotel organized a gondola ride for 8pm that evening. She was to arrive around 5pm, so I had to spend a few hours at the local pub and cafes. The rest is history and she said...
