To celebrate Volunteers' Week , we wanted to show the variety of work Shelter volunteers do and say thank you!
Volunteers' Week is an annual, nationwide event. Now in its 33rd year, it's designed to raise awareness of the UK's 23 million volunteers and the brilliant work they do. It's led by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, Volunteer Development Scotland, Volunteer Now, and the Wales Council for Voluntary Action.
Shelter is very proud to support this campaign. Without our volunteers, we genuinely couldn't do what we do. They help us help others find and maintain safe, secure homes. In 2014, our volunteers put in a whopping 20,000 hours of work! They support us in many different ways - from working in our shops and cheering on fundraisers at various events, to providing important legal support. As one of our volunteers, Rachel, says: 'Even though you may being doing a small thing today, it’s knowing that you’re part of the bigger puzzle that I think is hugely rewarding.'
