Couldn't wait for all the updates to the Rode Video Mic Pro. On paper there are some huge improvements that will definitely make life easier and safer. This is the best on-camera shotgun mic you can buy.
However, my thoughts will be based on VLOGGING as a Sony Shooter (good preamps). That means 1) I don't need +20db 2) I like to stay super low profile 3) I don't mind a bit of EQ in post.
With that in mind I unboxed the hot new mic and compared it to my current vlogging microphones:
