For reference, I am a drug-free junior powerlifter. I have competed in one meet (USAPL) on June 14, 2014 and I totaled 1,157 lb at 198 lb. I am now 21 years old and have been training for three years this October. I train at Orlando Barbell.
For my first training cycle after the meet, I decided to try Jonnie Candito's program. I have followed him for about a year now and find that his methods may work well for a drug-free athlete, simply because he is at such a high level himself (he made 3rd place at this year's IPF Classic/Raw World Championship).
This is actually the last week of the program in that the 6th week is used as a deload, test, taper, etc. I was happy to get 391 lb for a double because it was a PR. I knew I wanted two reps but was not confident and energetic enough to go for three. I was thinking either two or three reps on 286 lb on bench but was hoping for two when I actually got to the gym and was a little disappointed to miss the second rep. I was trying to keep my back as straight as possible for this whole cycle and feel like I did a decent job.
Note: two spring clips together weigh about 0.6 lb so I round up. The weights are actually closer to 320.6 lb, 225.6 lb, 305.6 lb, etc.
Feel free to leave suggestions or anything and I will respond to all of my comments. I am also happy to explain any aspect of my training or plans.
