First time IRONMAN participant and now champion, Braden Currie, takes us on the epic journey which led to his legendary win.
Saturday the 4th of March saw Braden Currie compete in his first ever full IRONMAN, and win.
Completing the 226km course in 8hours:20mins:57secs, Currie slayed the pro field which included 12-time IRONMAN champion Cameron Brown (2nd place), Cyril Viennot (3rd place) and 2016 IRONMAN Western Australia champion Terenzo Bozzone.
The IRONMAN New Zealand race win gives Currie an automatic qualifying slot for the 2017 IRONMAN World Championship, held in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in October.
