This is a brief description of the new Facebook Bluetooth Beacon and explanation of features. Facebook Beacon is a new Feature attached to Facebook Place tips.
What is a Facebook Bluetooth Beacon?
A Facebook Beacon is a device that sends and receives Bluetooth signal. When a customer walks in the device will know they are at your location provided they have Bluetooth and Locations services turned on. This device then signals your phone to give a notification to your Facebook app so it can display information that is pertinent to your current location and try to get you to engage with the business via Facebook.
Is this part of Place Tips in news feed? Yes it is, Place tips automatically shows information relating to a place you are near and allows your to see who of your friends has visited, what your friends said, and give you the ability to check in. This is essentially a tool to drive up Facebook engagement while people are visiting your store and Facebook Beacons help you do that by connecting with more of those people automatically when they walk in the door.
