If you play 1...e5 in response to 1.e4, you will encounter many different games and have to be prepared against all of them. The Center Game (2. d4) and the Danish Gambit are not the greatest tries for White, but you will see them and should know how to handle them. In the Danish Gambit, you have the options of playing solidly and just equalizing in the opening, or you can accept 1 or even 2 pawns and go for more.
