The Canon 70D and 80D seem to sell like hotcakes for those interested in video functionality, but for their price tag, they come up fairly short in the video department. For filmmaking and vlogging, there are much better options for far cheaper.
The Lumix G7 is a great catch-all for anyone interested in filmmaking or vlogging for a reasonable budget. The camera is jam-packed with extremely useful features, and offers great 4k performance at a killer price. In my opinion, the Lumix G7 has no business performing as well as it does for how much it costs. It is without a doubt, the best camera available for under $1000 if you're looking to start a YouTube channel.
The Lumix G7 has several must-have features: focus peaking, zebra stripes, 4k, and 1080p at 60fps. Unfortunately, the lenses are a bit more expensive than you'd find with a typical full sensor DSLR, but that is my only complaint so far.
