This is a video where I explain why I hate school exams and why they are utter shite. If you enjoyed the video please like and subscribe and also share with your friends. Thanks.
If there's one thing we can all agree on it's that school exams are fucking bollocks. Let's think, what exactly is
an exam supposed to measure. It's supposed to measure how intelligent you are and therefore decide what jobs
you can get. But it doesn't. It doesn't measure how smart you are it measures how good your memory is if you have
a good memory that doesn't always mean you're smart. Some of the smartest people in history had terrible memories.
Like Albert Einstein, the dictionary definition of a genius. Einstein was unable to remember dates and couldn't
even remember his own phone number.
The exams themselves are complete shite. Take the English paper for example. Where I'm from we have roughly 2 and a
half hours to do the exam. We have to spend only 12 minutes writing and 2-page piece of detailed writing. Who the
fuck can write that fast. It's not like we have to do this once, we have to do it multiple times. Do you think
Martin Luther King spent 12 minutes writing his 'I have a dream speech?' No, he didn't so why do I only have 12
minutes to write my piece of shit essay that some old, fat bastard is going to correct.
For my final exams, I'm tested on two years of work. So, that means that I have to remember on one day, what I've
been learning for the previous 730 days. Is this a fucking joke is it? Also, where I'm from we have a point
system. In this system, they take the grades you got and allocate them into points. For example, if you get 90% or
above in an exam. That's 100 points and as the percentages gets lower you get less and less points. We do 7 exams
and we're given points on our best 6. The total number of points you can get is 625. You're given an extra 25
points if you pass honors maths. Now, every course in college requires a minimum number of points to be accepted.
Again, fucking bullshit. This means that you can be really good at English and get high points in that subject with
the intention of studying English in college, but if you do bad in your other subjects you may not get enough
points to do that. How is that fair? There's a famous Einstein quote. 'Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a
fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.' Substitute fish with
student, and climb a tree with remember shit it done 2 years ago, and that's exams in a nut shell.
So, what should we do? I don't know exactly but I have some ideas. We should be examined on things like creativity,
Problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and IT skills because these are the things we'll need when they
kick us out the fucking door at the end of the year.
To sum up, exams are a test of memory, not intelligence. Fucking get rid of them.
