This is a quick excerpt from a longer video I'm working on and talking about getting horses used to drones. This videos starts out by following the horse around as he leaves the area the drone is in. The background is a camera setup on the table in front of the arena, and the picture in picture shot is the view from the drone.
The point here is to be able to get and stay near the horse without it taking off. It took less than 20 minutes to get that to happen and you'll see that while he'll tolerate it at the end, we still have a bit to go. That happens in another video.
Most horses are scared of drones in the same way they don't like balloons. They fly around and are magic to a horse as it's not a bird nor attached to anything. They're noisy too.
In this day and age it's important to have a horse acclimated to drones as you never know who might have one near you. The cool side of it too is that when you get them used to it, you can get some great video! That all aside, getting your horse past anything that makes them scared or nervous, always has a positive effect on them and makes them stronger and more confident for the next thing.
