Join me as we fight in the World of Warships Beta. This video is designed to offer some tips and tricks as well as insight into general ship roles and tactics. Things covered include advanced ship statistics, aiming assistance on the "alt" key, and deployment and roles of ships.
In general, destroyers should scout the enemy and use smoke to mask fleet movements then sit in stealth and wait to strike vulnerable or isolated targets, prioritizing carriers and battleships.
Battleships should be at the center of task groups and hang back, there is no reason to ever be closer than 10 km to an enemy in a BB until the late game. BBs should first and foremost focus on sinking the enemy battleships if able, and then move on to firing at other targets. Stay in the open water in BBs, avoid getting close to islands and into narrow channel where you cannot maneuver and are vulnerable to torpedo ambush.
Cruisers should steam with the battleships and carriers, setting themselves in front of the BBs(2-4km toward the enemy) to act as an aircraft and destroyer screen. Cruisers are built to kill destroyers, engage them with impunity when able, but do not leave your BBs vulnerable to torpedo runs. If there are no destroyers to shoot, focus on the enemy cruisers. If you have the ability, hold on using your increased aa ability until right before enemy bombers start their run. You will disrupt the attack pattern and cause the torpedo spread to be super wide.
Carriers should be in the rear, steaming behind the BB and cruiser group, close enough that you cannot be ambushed by a sneaky destroyer getting through, but far enough behind to not be a priority target for enemy surface guns. Use fighters in the early game to recon the enemy fleet deployment and scout for sneaky destroyers trying to break through/flank. As the battle progresses, station fighter wings in between the enemy fleet and friendly battleships to intercept enemy bombers well before they can engage, and hold your own bombers out of aa range until an isolated target presents itself. If there are no targets for your fighters, use them to widen your teams vision or send them in with your bombers to absorb some aa fire, keeping your bombers healthier longer.
