This video outlines the wonderful Xiaomi Yi 2k Action Camera and not only does solo video testing at 480/720/1080/2k and at 30fps/60/120/240 but also compares the camera against the GoPro Hero 4 Silver.
I was able to purchase this camera at Amazon for $71 USD. It is also sold on Banggood/Gearbest for around the same. The Chinese version is cheaper. I decided on the International version. Had no issues with language, the app was in English via the app Apple store (I was on IOS7).
When researching this camera, I basically wanting something that would emulate the GoPro Hero 4 series in color, temp and blackness. It looks pretty close. The Xiaomi Yi often veers into more color, which is fine, but I thought it looked really nice compared to the GoPro. I love the amount of options you have, whether its video or photos. I basically connected to the Yi twice before it prompted me for a firmware update and that took it to 2k at 30fps. What manufacturer do you know does something like that for a product of this cost? It's amazing. Overall, very happy with the purchase. I did have to purchase a separate housing so I could use all my existing GoPro accessories, but that was the only snag. Presently looking into a small monitor that can attach on the back so I can see what I'm shooting.
WHY SHOULD YOU BUY THIS BRAND? Take a look. Xiaomi are the Chinese equivalent to Apple. They are the third largest cell phone manufacturer in the globe. This brand is to be trusted.
